Kalonji’s Samurai

Comic Book Resources (courtesy of Skottie Young on Twitter) pointed me towards this book, and it looks amazing.

J.P. Kalonji’s 365 Samurai and a Few Bowls of Rice is a classic tale of a wandering swordsman, the premise reminds me a lot of The Samurai Trilogy, which of course starred the essential on-screen samurai Toshiro Mifune.

First off, I love samurai.  Absolutely love them.  Combined with a concept of having a single image per page as opposed to breaking up a page into multiple frames and working with straight black ink on white pages, and this just looks like a really fascinating book that’s as much art as it is comic.

Anyway, now I can’t wait for December.  This is from Dark Horse Comics, and you should try to get it, because I plan on it, and really, who else are you gonna take advice from?
